Artist's Comments
A politically themed propaganda poster I designed in my Production class Fall 08. I chose the subject of space exploration, and wanted to promote it's longevity in the United States, despite our economic situation. Initially I knew I wanted to steer clear of that Norman Rockwell-esque style often referenced in propaganda posters (Uncle Sam anyone?). So the style is Art Nouveau, and the type treatment is Victorian.
I did a lot of research in preparation for this piece. Several quotes I ran across were particularly striking so I incorporated them into my design. While I was working on it I couldn't help but think of it as the cover of an old newspaper. |
